Yes. I have had a woman come into our shop on this very morning and correct my gramour.
a-hem! I was not "stood at the bus stop" I was "Standing at the bus stop". Also, i was not "Sat on the bus" I was "Sitting on the bus."
Gets her goat apparently, when people miss use the language, and she 'does not' like regional accents on television.
Thats fair enough i suppose, i wasnt all that taken with her condesending attitude. I didnt say anythinbg mind, she looked quite scarey.

Yea, i have to admit to pulling people up on 'will you borrow me it?' and i do get slightly irked at 'nowt' meaning 'nothing' and people who say 'satday' rather than 'saturday'. but you get a lot of that here in yorkshire.
In Birmingham we have the classic "Satdee" for //Saturday// and the ever popular "Ayeit" or "ain't it" for //it is// and //is not not//.
Thankfully I no longer live in Birmingham but sadly I now have to put up with "Well what it was see..." and "It's Huw it is..."
ever imagined that maybe, just maybe, the English goes and slips up and you just have no idea how it happened, or maybe you do and its just easier to some things. or it just feels good to break the rules.
i had to attend an English class for 14 years, now i don't have to sit for an exam so what if I say am instead I am?
