Saw this in todays paper....
HEADBANGING IS RULED A DISABILITY.
A Heavy metal fan is to receive disability allowance because he is addicted to loud music. Roger Tullgren has battled for ten years to have his obsession classified as a handicap. Now the part time dishwasher will pocket a top up from the state worth around £65 oer week. Mr Tullgren, 42 of Sweeden said: "I can't listen to other types of music-heavy metal is my life"

It's amazing how foolish government can be. What about people addicted to food, alcohol or cigarettes, etc... ? Since when is addiction considered a disability?

its mayhem out there isnt it what people can claim for I swear the world has gone loopy! there was that coloured guy who won damages because his collegues ate blackcurrant jelly babies head first and now this!? got I wonder what we could claim for if we said we were addicted to blogging 
It depends on how exactly this 'addiction' works.
It could be a manifestation of underlying Obsessive Compulsive Disorder or Autism (repetitive behaviours and in some cases need for certain sensory stimulation) in which case he is disabled and should qualifiy for benefits accordingly.
I think it is important to establish that there is a difference between an addiction and an uncontrollable compulsion and the article doesn't make that at all clear but I would imagine that if it is medically recognised it is a compulsion rather than what we generally think of as an addiction.
