I've never known him be depressed before, and i've known him almost 20 years. He has always ben a bit of a loner, liking his own space, he's been single as long as i've known him, i dont even remeber him ever going on a date as long as i've known him. He says hew likes living alone and enjoys his own company.

Does he suffer from depression?
I had a friend who would drop off the scene for months, then come back as if nothing had happened. You could not contact him by phone, he would not answer the door or anything. Just had to keep an eye on him (well, make sure the house wasn't burnt down and the milk was taken off the step) till he came out of it.
