What set of pillocks decided on that. The Red Arrows are British and have a right to be in the opening and closing ceremonies of 2012 Olympics. To say thta they would offend other nations is an insult to the Red Arrows.

OK let me get this straight. In a sporting competition that has its roots based in the competitions between warriors of ancient Greece we're worried that the Red Arrows are too 'militaristic'?
Hmmm, maybe they should also consider removing the Javelin and Discus events. Hang on, anyone who doesn't win a Gold Medal may be offended as well. We'd better give everyone a Gold Medal for competing just in case.
