Michelle has had a chest infection for a few days now that she has been un able to shake off, so she decided she would go and see our GP. The surgery opens at 8.30am, so i started ringing for her at 8.29, assuming i would be the first caller. The receptionist answered the phone in mere moments, and I asked,
"Could i make an appoibntment for my wife to see the Doctor this afternoon?"
"Sorry." said the receptionist. "Today is fully booked up."
"Can I make an apointment for her for tomorow then?" I asked.
"No." she said. "You will have to start phoning at 8.30 tomorow morning."
"But how is that going to be any different to today?" I asked. "And more to the point. if we cant book a day in advance how is today fully booked at 8. 32? You only opened the phone lines 2 minutes ago!!!"
"Sorry." she said. "Nothing I can do about it."
