Took out the battery, tried a re boot

We dont have disk A.
Phoned the manufacturer, they said they can send us 'disk A' for a fee of £35.00. OH, AND IT WILL TAKE 28 DAYS.
took it into my neighbour Maliq who repairs computers for a living. He recons the hard drive has gone, and we have lost everything on it...
